Müller

Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from Müller?

Verdict
No Swiss delivery

The German Müller online shop delivers only to addresses in Germany, and to Austria via mueller.at. A Swiss address cannot be entered at checkout. Swiss shoppers are pointed to the separate Swiss shop mueller.ch, which sells in francs with Swiss VAT already included in the price. A forwarder such as MeinEinkauf.ch is the only way to get mueller.de goods across the border.

Confidence
High

The exclusion is stated explicitly in both the FAQ and the AGB rather than inferred from an omission, so the finding is solid. The only caveat is that country coverage can change if Müller extends its cross-border shop.

The reasoning

Müller's own FAQ answers the question directly: home delivery is currently offered only in Germany and Austria, and on mueller.de only a German delivery address can be entered in the basket. The terms and conditions say the same thing from the legal side, stating that the offers are addressed to customers with a delivery address in Germany, with a few excluded German territories. There is therefore no Swiss shipping option, no DDP arrangement and no stated Swiss VAT handling on this domain. The FAQ itself refers Swiss customers to mueller.ch, a Swiss entity whose prices include Swiss VAT.

What complicates it is that Swiss buyers do reach mueller.de indirectly. Forwarding services such as MeinEinkauf.ch let you order to a German address and then re-ship into Switzerland. In that case the forwarder, not Müller, handles the import clearance and bills the VAT and its own fee, and Müller's part of the transaction remains a purely domestic German sale with German VAT included. Because the shop never becomes the importer, no DDP or DAP verdict can be assigned to mueller.de itself.

If it goes wrong

If you use a freight forwarder or a German pickup address, you or the forwarder become the importer and will pay Swiss import VAT at 8.1 percent plus the forwarder's clearance fee. Müller covers none of that.
