Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from pro aurum?
The German shop delivers only to addresses in Germany, so no Swiss delivery address can be used at checkout. Buyers in Switzerland are directed to the group's Zurich shop at proaurum.ch, which ships domestically by Swiss Post for CHF 20 to CHF 40.
Two pages on the shop's own site state the German-only delivery area in the same words, so the finding is solid. The verdict stays UNKNOWN because no Swiss delivery exists to judge, not because the evidence is thin.
The shipping page at proaurum.de lists four insured courier tiers from EUR 9.95 to EUR 29.00 and then states that articles can only be delivered to Germany. The FAQ repeats this, saying delivery goes to any address in the Federal Republic, and that delivery inside Switzerland runs through the Zurich shop. There is therefore no Swiss import charge to assess on a proaurum.de order, because the order cannot be shipped across the border.
What complicates it is that the same group does serve Switzerland under a separate site. proaurum.ch delivers within Switzerland and Liechtenstein by Swiss Post, and the goods never cross a border, so nothing is billed on delivery. A German order can also be collected in person at a branch in Munich, Berlin or elsewhere, and the buyer then handles the border themselves.
Self-collection at a German branch followed by personal import. Swiss customs then assesses the metal on entry, and silver, platinum and palladium are treated differently from investment gold.
