Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from Kaufland.de?
Kaufland.de is a German marketplace that delivers to addresses in Germany, and a Swiss delivery address is not offered at checkout. Swiss buyers reach it through forwarding services such as MeinEinkauf.ch, which charge their own fee from CHF 17.90 including clearance.
The Kaufland help answers are rendered by JavaScript, so the Switzerland question on the shipping page could not be opened and read. The conclusion rests on the marketplace country structure and on a Swiss forwarding service selling Kaufland.de delivery.
The Kaufland.de help section covers shipping and delivery for the marketplace and lists a question about deliveries abroad, but the answers load only in the browser and could not be read. The seller documentation for the Kaufland marketplaces describes shipping groups built from EU delivery regions such as Germany and Austria, with separate country marketplaces for Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Italy. Switzerland does not appear as a delivery region.
What complicates it is that the German help page also carries a question about delivery to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and its answer stayed hidden. The existence of a Swiss forwarding service built specifically around Kaufland.de orders points the same way, since such services exist for shops that stop at the German border. If a marketplace seller did send a parcel to a Swiss address, it would travel DAP and the buyer would pay 8.1% import VAT plus the carrier fee.
An individual marketplace seller could accept a Swiss address off-platform, in which case the parcel arrives DAP and the buyer pays import VAT plus the carrier fee.
