Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from Globetrotter?
Globetrotter delivers only inside the EU, and its own help pages say Switzerland is excluded. A Swiss address cannot be entered as delivery address, so no import VAT question arises.
The help centre article is dated and states the exclusion in one plain sentence, and the shipping table independently omits Switzerland. The only residual doubt is that a shop can change its delivery countries without the help article being updated.
The German shop's help centre answers the delivery-country question directly. It states that delivery happens within the EU and that Switzerland is not served. The shipping cost table on the Versand & Lieferung page lists Germany at 4.95 euro and then only EU member states, from Belgium at 7.95 euro to Hungary at 29.95 euro. Switzerland appears nowhere in that list. The page also requires billing and delivery address to be in the same country.
Because no parcel goes to a Swiss address, there is no DDP or DAP arrangement to assess. Swiss buyers who want Globetrotter goods use a forwarding service such as MeinEinkauf.ch, which takes delivery in Germany and handles the Swiss clearance itself, from CHF 17.90 including duties. In that case the charges come from the forwarder, not from Globetrotter. Globetrotter also operates stores in Germany where a Swiss resident can buy in person, and the import declaration then falls to the traveller at the border.
A Swiss customer ordering through a German forwarding address pays the forwarder's clearance charge and Swiss import VAT of 8.1 percent, which Globetrotter has no part in.
“Wir liefern innerhalb der EU. In die Schweiz liefern wir daher leider nicht.”
“Die Versandkosten für Lieferungen in Deutschland betragen 4,95 Euro.”
“MeinEinkauf.ch liefert Ihnen Ihre Wunschartikel, welche Globetrotter.de nicht in die Schweiz versendet”
