Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from LilySilk?
Parcels arrive from abroad and the carrier bills import VAT of 8.1 percent plus a handling fee on delivery. LilySilk states it refunds customs charges within 3 to 5 working days once you email the receipt.
The refund promise is the shop's own current wording, but no page states whether Swiss VAT is charged at checkout, so the buyer still fronts the charge at the door. I found no Swiss buyer reports confirming how reliably the refund is paid.
LilySilk runs a Swiss storefront at lilysilk.com/ch with prices in CHF and a German delivery page. That page has a section on customs and import charges saying such charges sometimes cannot be avoided, and asks the buyer to email a copy of the receipt for a refund within 3 to 5 working days. The English shipping page carries the same text. Nothing on either page says Swiss VAT is collected at checkout or that parcels are cleared DDP.
Goods ship by courier from abroad. A DHL, FedEx or UPS clearance fee is higher than the CHF 11 to 16 Swiss Post charges, and the refund depends on LilySilk accepting your receipt.
“Manchmal ließen sich die zusätzlichen Zoll- oder Einfuhrabgaben nicht vermeiden.”
“A refund will be processed within 3-5 working days upon receiving your receipt.”
“On occasion, additional customs or import duties cannot be avoided.”
