Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from notebooksbilliger.de?
notebooksbilliger.de delivers to private customers only in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Spain. A Swiss delivery address cannot be used at checkout. Buying anyway means using a forwarder such as MeinEinkauf.ch and paying its clearance fee plus Swiss import VAT.
Both shop pages are unambiguous and still live, and the shipping page was last edited 10.09.2024. The country list can change, however, and the FAQ page dates from 2023.
The shop's own help pages state that private customers are currently served only in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Spain. Business customers holding a valid VAT ID are also served in other EU countries. The shipping-cost page lists EU zones only and says delivery outside the EU is not currently possible, so there is no Swiss checkout, no Swiss VAT charged and no customs statement.
Ordering through a forwarder or a pickup address in Konstanz makes the buyer the importer. The buyer is then liable for 8.1% import VAT plus the forwarder's clearance fee.
