Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from Thomann?
Thomann shows Swiss customers prices in francs that already contain Swiss VAT and customs clearance, so the courier collects nothing at the door. Shipping is CHF 9, and free from CHF 199.
The statement that prices include Swiss VAT and customs charges appears on two current Thomann pages in unambiguous wording. No Reddit or Trustpilot report from a Swiss buyer was retrieved to confirm it in practice.
Thomann runs a Swiss storefront at thomannmusic.ch, and its non-EU shipping FAQ states that all prices in the online shop include local VAT and customs charges, with no additional costs after purchase. The shipping-cost FAQ repeats this and tells buyers to call if a driver asks for extra postage or fees. Parcel shipping to Switzerland is CHF 9 since 28 October 2024, free above CHF 199.
The exception sits with bulky goods. Freight deliveries and UPS Express were excluded from the CHF 9 rate, and the shipping FAQ says a freight delivery outside Germany can carry extra costs that customer service quotes on request. The freight page still says the transport company may not demand further fees on arrival, so the extra falls in the shipping price rather than at the door. The delivering carrier inside Switzerland is not named on these pages.
Large items sent by freight, such as pianos or PA cabinets, are priced individually and may cost more than the CHF 9 parcel rate.
