Do you pay Swiss import VAT and customs charges when ordering from Framework?
Framework ships to Switzerland on a Delivered Duty Paid basis, so the checkout price already contains Swiss import VAT. FedEx clears the parcel and the courier asks for nothing at the door.
The Terms of Sale name Switzerland directly under the DDP clause, which is as explicit as a shop gets. I could not open the Swiss checkout to see the VAT line itself, and I found no Swiss buyer reports to confirm the practice.
Framework's Terms of Sale name Switzerland in the list of countries served Delivered Duty Paid. The clause states that the price shown at checkout includes applicable import duties and local taxes, and that Framework and its carriers handle customs clearance and pay those fees. On a CHF 400 order the 8.1% import VAT is already inside the price, and no handling fee follows on delivery. Laptop orders ship free, while Marketplace parts have shipping calculated at checkout.
The knowledge base marks Switzerland with an asterisk, meaning certain regions are excluded because of FedEx IPD constraints. That list did not render for me, so a small number of Swiss addresses may be unservable. I also could not load the Swiss storefront checkout to confirm that prices display in CHF with VAT shown as included.
Switzerland carries an asterisk on the shipping countries page for regions FedEx IPD cannot serve, so some addresses may be refused at checkout.
“Products are shipped Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). The price displayed at checkout includes applicable import duties and local taxes”
“Framework (via our designated carriers) will manage the customs clearance process and payment of these fees on your behalf.”
“Orders with a Framework Laptop currently ship free. For Framework Marketplace orders, shipping costs are calculated during checkout.”
“Framework Products are currently not available in the following regions due to FedEx IPD constraints.”
