Peak Design's own support pages say it does not cover customs, duties or import fees, and its checkout VAT rules are written for the EU, UK and other home markets rather than Switzerland. Expect the carrier to bill you roughly 8.1% import VAT on goods plus shipping, plus a clearance fee, before it hands the parcel over.
The disclaimer of responsibility for import fees is explicit, but it sits on an older Zendesk copy of the article and the Switzerland conclusion rests on the absence of Switzerland from the checkout-VAT explanation rather than on a Swiss-specific statement. No buyer account was found to corroborate it.
Peak Design's support centre states plainly in its shipping article that the company is not responsible for customs, duties or import fees on your order, and that it only tries to reduce them by dispatching from one of its regional warehouses. Its tax article explains that VAT is added at checkout for orders shipping inside the EU, which are sent from the Tilburg warehouse in the Netherlands at the destination country's rate; Switzerland is not in that scheme, and nothing on the pages I could read indicates a Swiss VAT registration or a DDP option for Swiss addresses. A Swiss order therefore arrives as an import: 8.1% Swiss import VAT on the goods and freight, with no customs duty on bags, straps or tripods since 2024, plus the carrier's clearance charge.
What complicates it is that the current peakdesign.com FAQ renders its articles with JavaScript, so the wording I could verify comes from the older Zendesk mirror of the same articles, and Peak Design has been shifting to Shopify markets where duties-and-taxes-included checkout can be switched on per country without any page being rewritten. I also found no Swiss buyer report on Reddit or Trustpilot to confirm what was actually charged on delivery, and I could not confirm the shipping rate, carrier or any value threshold Peak Design applies to Swiss addresses. If a small order stays under about CHF 62 of goods the VAT falls below the CHF 5 collection minimum and nothing is charged.
If Peak Design has enabled Shopify's duties-and-taxes-included checkout for Switzerland, or you ship to a Swiss address served from its Netherlands warehouse under a DDP courier contract, the checkout total may already cover the VAT and nothing is due on delivery.

“For orders shipping within the EU, they will be shipped from our NL warehouse, and due to new rules implemented on July 1, 2021, VAT will be charged at the rate of the country where the order is shipping to.”
